About the Health Care Quality Report Card

When you make decisions about your health care there are a lot of things to think about. The Health Care Quality Report Card helps you find health plans, medical groups and their doctors by zeroing in on the quality of patient care and service that matters to you.

Use the Health Care Quality Report Card to compare ratings of your local health plans and their medical groups and doctors. Check these quality ratings to see how well health plans and their doctors:

  • care for members with ongoing health problems like diabetes and high blood pressure.
  • screen women for breast, cervical and colorectal cancers.
  • coordinate patients’ care, handle confidential information properly and see that patients don’t fall through the cracks.
  • see that children get their shots on schedule and get the right care for common childhood illnesses.
  • are rated by their members about getting care easily, finding a personal doctor, and solving problems or getting other customer service help.

Each year, the Office of the Patient Advocate publishes the Health Care Quality Report Card. The Office of the Patient Advocate was created to inform and educate people in California about their rights and responsibilities as HMO members.
