Why is it important for patients with cardiovascular disease to receive statin therapy?

Statins are a type of medicine that bring down cholesterol levels in the blood. The American College of Cardiology and American Heart Association recommend the use of statins for adults with moderate to high intensity cardiovascular disease.

What do the stars mean?

The scores show how well each medical group ensured males 21–75 years of age and females 40–75 years of age with cardiovascular disease were prescribed statins. The higher score means more patients got the right care at the right time.

The scores are based on information from at least 30 medical group patient records in 2023.
