Health Plans

Your health plan has a big impact on the quality of care you receive. Find out how your plan rates on the care its members receive and what they say about their care.

Select one of the following:

  • HMO Ratings
    A group HMO plan is health insurance that you get through your job. Your employer pays part or all of the cost of the plan. An individual HMO plan is health insurance that you buy yourself. You pay all of the cost of the plan.
  • PPO (Preferred Provider Organization)
    A Preferred Provider Organization (PPO) is another type of managed care plan that gives members more choices but may cost more than a traditional HMO.
  • Medicare
    Medicare is health insurance paid for by the federal government. It is for people who are 65 and older and for some people under 65 who have a disability.
  • Medi-Cal
    Medi-Cal is health insurance paid for by the state of California. It is for people with low incomes. In other states it is called Medicaid.
  • Healthy Families
    Healthy Families is low-cost health insurance for children and teens who do not qualify for Medi-Cal and who do not have other health insurance. Healthy Families covers health, dental, and vision care.
  • CalPERS
    CalPERS offers health plans for public employees and retirees.
