What Was Measured?

The percentage of babies in the health plan who had six or more well-child visits with a primary care doctor during their first year of life.

Why Is It Important?

Regular visits are one of the best ways to check for health problems – physical, behavioral or emotional – that could be lifelong health problems. These visits are the time for parents to learn about keeping their child healthy or taking care of a sick child. These visits are very important during the first year when an infant is growing and changing quickly.

Well-Child Visits for Infants

Look for differences of at least 4%. Smaller differences usually are not significant.
