Why is it important to get a flu shot?
An annual flu shot is the best way to lower your chance of getting the flu. In many cases, the flu symptoms of fever, headache, and fatigue last only a few days. However, the flu can lead to serious health problems such as pneumonia; infections of the ear, nose or throat; and the worsening of an existing medical condition.
Who should get a flu shot?
Health officials recommend that adults get an annual flu shot especially if they have certain medical conditions such as asthma, diabetes or chronic lung disease. Pregnant women should also get a flu shot. Every flu season, be sure to ask your doctor if you need a flu shot.
What do the scores mean?
The scores show how well each health plan did at making sure patients ages 18 to 64 years received a flu shot during the most recent flu season. The higher score means more patients got the right care at the right time.
The scores are based on information from a survey of a sample of at least 100 health plan members in 2021.
