Appropriate Use of Tests, Treatments and Procedures Summary 2023-24 Edition

Why is it important to get enough care, and avoid excessive care?

Getting the care you need is very important to staying healthy. But getting too much care can cause unneeded harm to your body, and could drive up health care costs . Some procedures may be invasive and costly, and could cause more harm than benefit. It is important to know the appropriate amount of care you should receive.

What do the stars mean?

The stars tell you how successful each plan was at providing the right care at the right time, without providing too much or not enough. More stars are better.
