Why is it important to get a check-up after giving birth?

You will also need care after the baby is born. As a new mother, you may also need help in learning how to care for your baby and yourself. A new baby brings a lot of changes and you may need some help adjusting to changes in your body, your feelings and your relationships. A check-up with your doctor is an important way to get the care you need.

When should you go for a check-up after giving birth?

You should visit your doctor between 3 to 8 weeks after your baby is born.

Talk with your doctor and health plan to find out about what other services are available. Many health plans offer additional support and resources for women who recently gave birth. These additional services may range from educational materials (online and in print), classes, home visits, case management, and other support services.
