An annual flu shot is the best way to lower your chance of getting the flu. In many cases, the flu symptoms of fever, headache, and fatigue last only a few days. However, the flu can lead to serious health problems such as pneumonia; infections of the ear, nose or throat; and the worsening of an existing medical condition.
Health officials recommend that adults get an annual flu shot especially if they have certain medical conditions including asthma, diabetes or chronic lung disease. Pregnant women should also get a flu shot. Every flu season, be sure to ask your doctor if you need a flu shot.
